More details

AMEC-TEAC members who join by June 30, 2026 don’t need to complete a medical questionnaire.

Members who aren’t covered by a group plan and who join after June 30 must complete a medical questionnaire for extended health care and hospital coverage.

No medical is needed if you’re transferring from another group plan or adding secondary coverage.

Applying by June 30, 2026?
You are guaranteed acceptance, and your coverage can start on any date you choose within this guaranteed acceptance period.

Applying after June 30, 2026?
If you are switching from another group plan, your coverage can start on any date after your current coverage ends, as long as it’s within 60 days of that end date.

Applying after June 30 and not covered by a group plan?

  • Extended health and hospital coverage will begin once your application is approved, after we’ve reviewed your medical questionnaire.
  • Dental coverage starts on the date you choose—no medical review needed with a 24-month commitment.

Approval can take one to several weeks, depending on your situation. If more information is needed, the administrator will contact you.

Premiums are billed monthly on the 5th of every month, one month in advance.

Yes, access to the comprehensive group insurance program is a benefit of AMEC-TEAC membership. You must maintain your AMEC-TEAC membership to stay in the plan.

Your spouse or partner doesn’t need to be a member to be eligible for coverage. This includes a spouse through legal marriage or a partner who has lived with you for at least the last 12 months. Coverage is available for:

  • Unmarried children under 21 who aren’t employed full-time
  • Unmarried children under 30 who are enrolled as full-time students at a post-secondary institution and who are dependent on you for support
  • Children of any age who are disabled

Service to members is provided by GreenShield as the claims and service administrator.
